Google Android Phone, coming Sep 23rd via T-mobile

T-mobile, Google Android An official announcement by T-mobile reveals plans to introduce the first mobile phone based on Google Android OS at a New York press conference this September 23rd. Providing a mobile application platform in competition with Apple’s iPhone, G1, the Google Android smartphone by HTC promises to refresh the smartphone market.

Fabricated to take advantage of Internet services for mobility, Android is an open source software platform that includes an OS.

An HTC dream, the highly anticipated phone should reach technophiles by end of October 2008. The Open Handset Alliance group was formed last November by Google. The group comprised of more than 30 hardware, software, and telecom companies, to promote open standards for mobile devices that includes Google, HTC, Intel, Motorola, and T-Mobile.

Eric Chu, Google’s Mobile Platform program manager revealed in a blog post last month, “Developers can expect the first handsets to be enabled with a beta version of Android Market.”

Come August 2008 and we saw many speculations floating about the Google Android phone. Its prospects seem to have brightened considerably after a nod by FCC accompanied by Google’s delivery of the Android 0.9 SDK beta and a confirmation by T-mobile to ship the HTC Android powered phone.

With dimensions of just over 5×3”, HTC’s G1 sports a keypad underneath the screen that can either slide out. The keypad is designed for effortless e-mail, note-taking and writing Web addresses. Move below the screen on the handset and one can find exclusive internet navigational controls.

While other companies are also busy developing handsets around the Android including Samsung Electronics, HTC may well end up being first in the world to put out the Android-based mobile phone.
