The Garmin Asus Nuvifone is one of the most delayed phones ever. It was first supposed to be launched during Q4 2008. Then there were rumors that this much anticipated phone was going to launch in June. Further, the launch of the Nuvifone G60 was delayed to August. Finally, the phone hit the markets in Asia recently. However, it is yet to launch in the US.

According to Gizmodo, the Garmin GPS smartphone or Nuvifone will hit US carriers in Q4 2009. The company restated that their device was in final testing with US carriers. This phone was originally due in the third quarter 2008. Garmin did not reveal how many carriers are testing this product.

The sale of the device might get affected due to its extended release. The iPhone, Palm Pre and Android handsets have already made their marks in the market since then. There are a plethora of navigation apps available on the iPhone and Palm Pre. Therefore, whether the Garmin Nuvifone will find a niche in the market is anybody’s guess.

However, the smartphone does add an element of freshness and that could entice users to buy the phone.
