Coming as good news to social networking fans, foursquare for iOS and BlackBerry has been updated with Nearby Friends view. This attribute is not new, but it was apparently pulled off for a while.

After listening to user feedback, the developers have thrown in the Nearby Friends panel besides the regular All Activity screen. This feature will allow users to stay updated on check-ins by friends in their vicinity only. It basically serves as a filter that displays the check-ins of nearby pals and not of those who stay far away. People with many friends living at places far apart from each other can expect a more streamlined experience.

“With both updates, we’ve also made small design tweaks, fixed some bugs, and done a bunch of under the hood tuning to make things faster and more intuitive. The updates for BlackBerry and iPhone will be rolling out today. Android, yours is coming soon! Enjoy, and thanks for all your feedback! It helps us a ton as we continue to improve foursquare,” states a post on the official foursquare blog.

In the case of iOS, simply dragging the screen down to the friends tab should help switch between the 2 views. As for BlackBerry, just hitting the friends widget will have the same effect. Apart from the inclusion of this trait, certain bugs have been fixed. This should improve the overall performance of the application in general.

foursquare for BlackBerry and iOS can be downloaded via their respective online stores. This update is slated to hit Android devices soon.
