The popular location based app, Foursquare for BlackBerry, has now been upgraded with quite a few new features. The official Foursquare blog reveals that these new functionalities have been added to cheer up its BlackBerry users in the festive season of Thanksgiving.
A new feature called Events has been introduced with this 3.4.1 update for BlackBerry. It lets users instantly notify friends about their current locations. Through this upgrade, others listed to receive Foursquare updates will immediately be alerted about which movie theater, sports stadium, restaurant, pub, or concert their friends are at.
Many a time, users like to know the events’ details beforehand such as movie timings and various schedules. To make the process of finding out such data easier, the location-based application has collaborated with MovieTickets.com, Songkick, and ESPN, offering information regarding thousands of events. The check-in detail screen has also undergone changes and received a new, simplified interface. BlackBerry users’ colleagues and friends will be able to view more details including pictures that have been taken at various events and points or badges earned. Also, comments can now be added inline.
The refreshed Foursquare app has undergone various tweaks and optimizations and lets users share tips with others on their BBM profile. The in-built GPS technology has been improved and so has the battery life. Furthermore, the overall appearance of the icons, help menu navigation and the friend management screen has become clearer and more sophisticated.
