First Ever Vibrating Braille Mobile Phone unveiled in Japan

Hasegawa Braille Phone Since ages the mobile phone industry has concentrated on developing newer technologies and designing newer patterns or styles, but here comes a phone that caters specially to the visually and hearing impaired people.

The Vibrating Braille mobile phone’s brilliant idea was developed by 73-year-old former teacher Sadao Hasegawa, Tsukuba University of Technology, Professor Nobuyuki Sasaki and other developers. Braille is a system of writing or reading which combines tangible dots or points, which represent letters, characters that can be read by touch by visually impaired people.

In this mobile phone, the caller pushes the buttons on the keypad and the vibrations on these keys indicated through the two terminals connected in Braille representations, which make the person understand the message. The Japanese Braille uses 6 dots to represent Japanese syllabary. So the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 8 will be used to represent the 6 dots.

Developers have a plan in the pipeline to bring in these useful gadgets that convert keypad information into vibrations in a smaller size than the current size which is 16 centimeters by 10 centimeters. This innovative device will surely provide a gateway to the eyes that can’t see as they would be able to communicate easily through these latest mobile phones.
