 Opera Mobile 10.1 Symbian

In the beginning of this month, we had reported on the Opera Mobile 10.1 beta being released for Android smartphones. Opera has announced that the ultimate version of Opera Mobile 10.1 has been unveiled for handsets operating on Symbian/Series 60.

Those wondering how this would augment their web browsing experience read on to know what new has been packed in with this upgrade. Firstly, there are the freshly added attributes like tabbed browsing, speed dial, Opera Link and password manager. What’s more, with Turbo compression, Opera Mobile 10.1 manages to compress files up to 20 percent of their original size. Thus, reducing the users’ data charges and increasing the browsing speed.

“Powerful smartphones deserve an equally powerful browser,” said Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software. “Opera Mobile 10.1 today brings the best mobile browsing experience to the world’s most popular smartphone platform.”

Interestingly, the Opera Mobile 10.1 now integrates support for geolocation. In addition to the aforementioned features, it even alters the look and feel of the browsing with a virtual keyboard, auto-rotation to landscape and kinetic scrolling. The company boasts that this variant of the mobile browser performs nine times faster than its predecessor thanks to a debutant JIT compiler (just-in-time compilation).

The Opera Mobile 10.1 is compatible with smartphones operating on the Symbian^3 and S60 3rd and 5th editions. The software can be downloaded free of charge from m.opera.com.
