Android Market now showcases content ratings

Android Market

Android as an operating system has been growing invariably. This can also be accredited to the constant innovativeness that the company has tried to offer its customers. The Android Developers blog has recently posted that now the Android Market will display content rating for all applications. This added functionality will enable handset owners to pick out the app that is best suited for them.

According to their content policy, the software will be rated within any of the four categories namely, All, Pre-teen, Teen, and Mature. Users may head over to the Android Market Help Center for additional details pertaining to the categories. Interestingly, now developers will have to include a rating for all new or updated applications and games. Additionally, existing content on the Android Market will also have to be rated with any of the four content rating levels.

Developers have time until a couple of weeks, to add in the ratings. After which, any app which does not display a rating will be deemed as Mature, which sounds as if its the most restrictive category and might hinder the apps popularity. What’s more, the folks over at the blog have added a passing mention for one and all to ‘look for more Android Market upgrades in the coming weeks’.

Well if read between the lines, are these updates going to be unraveled in time for the rumored upcoming release of the Android 2.3 Gingerbread upgrade.
