Fez now available for PC gamers

Indie wonder and one of 2012’s most appreciated games, Fez has made a jump onto the PC platform, and has now made itself available through Steam, GOG and the Humble store at a price of $10. The unique puzzle-based platformer was an Xbox Live-exclusive prior to this, which is what had resulted in its limited distribution. One of last year’s prominent documentary films, Indie Game: The Movie, had famously chronicled the development process of this game.

Although $10 will grant buyers the entire game on Steam, adding an extra $5 to the deal will also fetch them its original soundtrack which otherwise retails individually at $7. GOG on the other hand, doesn’t have any such deal. However, with every purchase, it is throwing in a set of three HD wallpapers. And apart from these two sources, there’s another place from where it can be bought. Gamers can head over to the Humble store, and buy it at the same value. This method however will grant the developer a greater share of the revenue.

Fez

The game tells the story of Gomez, who happens to be a two-dimensional creature dwelling inside a flat 2D world. The twist enters when one day, he discovers that a bizarre artifact dubbed Hexahedron gives him the power to manifest a third dimension. The Hexahedron unfortunately doesn’t last long, and explodes, resulting in the world getting glitches and freezing. He must now make his way through the three-dimensional environments to find the pieces of the Hexahedron so as to restore normality.

Players see the game in the form of a 2D platform on which Gomez can walk, jump, climb and manipulate objects. But the main gameplay trait is the ability to shift perspectives. The world can be rotated 90 degrees relative to the screen, which helps Gomez follow the right paths to his destination. As far as the minimum PC specifications are concerned, the game doesn’t demand much. From Windows XP (SP 3) till Windows 8, all OS’ are compatible. And a minimum of 2GB RAM and a 2.8GHz dual core processor should suffice.

Those wishing to buy Fez right now can head over to Steam, GOG or the Humble store to download their digital copies.
