Another updated version of Facebook Messenger for Android has been made available through the Google Play store. Hopping into the picture together with this upgrade are stickers offering an alternative over regular emoticons, touting bigger faces with an extra tinge of emotions.
Updated today, the bumped up software promises to bring these large creatures right next to the icon holding usual emojis, within the standalone app. The absurd thing however is that these massive smileys haven’t entered the service even for some of those who have tried upgrading to the latest version.
Since the company has stated nothing concerning the availability of this service, except that users will be able to employ these features soon, we cannot exactly comment on how long it will be before everyone can benefit from the perks of the latest edition. Apart from this, certain bug fixes have been carried out.
While this time it is the easy-to-access stickers, the app’s previous revamping session was all about dragging in Chat Heads from the Home app. With the inclusion of this feature, the utility made it possible for users to continue chatting even while employing other services.
It’s quite clear that when it comes to spreading its reach across the globe, Zuckerberg’s team wishes to leave no stone unturned. There had been quite a buzz when the HTC First had initially peeped out with its major portion being dominated by the Home app. Following the launch, the service was almost immediately pushed forth for other Android phones including the Taiwanese manufacturer’s One X and X+ as well as the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and S3.
Simultaneously, the crew had updated the SNS’ standalone messaging app meant for iOS users, presenting it with the Chat Heads feature as well. And not many days after this step was taken by the company, the Play store recorded a download rate between 500,000 to 1,000,000 for the Home service. All in all, this has been a busy month for the social network makers and we believe there’s still a lot more in store for us.
Coming back to the Facebook Messenger for Android, it has reached version 2.4.3 following this upgrade. Available for free, the overhauled software can be downloaded by anyone who owns devices optimized for version 2.2 of Google’s mobile OS and up, via the Play store.
