Google and Asus have kept their promise of delivering the Nexus 7 in its 32GB avatar for interested parties in India, even as the advanced Jelly Bean tablet has landed on the country’s Play store, tagged at a price of Rs. 18,999. Earlier this month, it was revealed that both Wi-Fi as well as 3G variants of the slate will be made available, but for now, only the former has appeared, with the latter perhaps having been slated for a further date.
This follows the 16GB model’s arrival in the nation as the first tangible product to hit its Play store. And now, it’s the higher capacity tablet’s turn to make its presence felt on the portal. There has been no talk yet about the 8GB model, and we’re assuming the manufacturers might be considering skipping it, since there’s quite a big market for the other two slabs. And since tablets from this range don’t feature any memory expansion slots on them, people have shown quite some apprehension while going for the 8GB version.
The 7-inch gadget comes equipped with an HD backlit IPS display proffering a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels at 216ppi. The Corning glass coating that’s granted to this screen helps protect it from scratches. There is no rear camera present on it, but a front-facing 1.2MP shooter should suffice users’ imaging needs. The tablet’s 198.5mm x 120mm x 10.45mm frame embodies enough components for it to tip the scales at 340 grams.
Inside it, an Nvidia Tegra 3 quad core processor keeps things going at a steady pace with assistance from 1GB of RAM. And powering the slate is a 4,325mAh battery that can run for about 8 hours on the trot. Android 4.2 is the OS of choice of course. And moreover, connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth and NFC also make their way into it, apart from a microUSB port. Usual additions such as an accelerometer, GPS, magnetometer and gyroscope can be counted in as well.
The 32GB Wi-Fi model of the Google Nexus 7 can be purchased currently through the country’s Play store at Rs. 18,999. We’ll have more on its 3G version as and when fresh details are out.
