Facebook is now allowing some users to choose their favorite friends

The virtues of your Facebook friendships are at stake, for the social networking giant has started testing a new feature which allows you to select your favorite friends and pages. Performing this step cuts out the crowd on your News Feed and lets you view updates from selected friends and pages first.

This fresh addition is being offered in the form of a test right now, but there’s no word on when it will be released for everyone. ‘See more of what you love’ is what Facebook seems to be telling these users while asking them to choose the friends and pages they’d like to give top preference to.

As revealed by Social Times, this new addition pops up in the form of a box with an animated puppy, that bears buttons which let you chose whether to subscribe to it or ignore it. It clearly states that the feature will place your chosen friends and pages at the top of the News Feed. Facebook has confirmed the existence of the feature to the above mentioned website, but it has chosen not to reveal any further details.

A trait which aims to provide a slightly similar experience already exists on the social networking website. It lets you opt in for notifications about any updates from a particular friend or page. But you need to do this by visiting individual profiles, whereas the new feature lets you prioritize in a much more organized manner.

Like we said, this new Facebook addition is in the middle of a trial phase right now; so little is known about when it will be made available for everyone.
