Existing OnePlus One users in India will be eligible for official warranty

OnePlus One customers in India who have used different means to officially get their hands on the smartphone can breathe easy as their warranty will be valid in the country. The company has gone on the record to disclose that it’ll support these handsets with after sales services.

However, you’ll only be able to claim warranty locally which means that current customers will have to wait until the company gets things up and running in India before they can get their OnePlus One phones serviced. Also, the standard warranty terms for the country will apply for these devices.

A post on the company’s official forum states that only the global versions of the handset are being covered and that’s provided you purchased it through the official website. As you probably know, OnePlus operates in a limited number of locations including the US and most of Europe. Getting hold of the smartphone isn’t impossible in other markets as it can be easily shipped via many import services.

However, this comes at the cost of having no warranty coverage. Seeing as the company has a large fan base in India, many of which already own the smartphone, the decisions was taken to support all current customers even without the phone being available in the country.

OnePlus One key specs:

The OnePlus One will cost around Rs 25000 in India and it’ll be made available with 64GB of onboard storage sometime next month.
