Evernote for Windows Phone update brings revamped home screen and tag list

Evernote for Windows Phone has been exposed to an update, just a couple of days after the developer released an upgrade for Android users. The enhanced version brings along a redesigned home screen and tag list.

The app has been revamped to portray a simplified UI. As can be seen from the picture below, this will now allow instant access to note composing, searches and shortcuts. If consumers want to take a look at their account information, all they would need to do is just tap their usernames which is displayed at the top.

After being introduced to the Android platform, the Shortcut option has now sneaked its way into Microsoft’s mobile environment. To create an icon, customers should keep an item pressed for a little while after which it will appear on the home screen. With this integration, users can easily move between most frequented points in the application. Also, these created symbols will then be synced across various OS’ like Mac, Android as well as Windows Phone and can be accessed from any one of them.

The tag list has been compressed so that the number of labels exhibited on each screen will increase in number. Skipping across tags has also been made easier, with users having to just tap a letter header that will open up an alphabetical grid. Another inclusion, which goes by the name of Notebook Stacks, allows users to view similar notebooks in a group. These clusters can be opened and closed by just hitting the icons. To be able to see all the notes in a stack, users will have to keep the title tapped for long.

Support for making and editing checkboxes has been added in this version. By pressing the symbol at the bottom of the editor, consumers will be able to create a list which consists of the said boxes. Consumers can check or uncheck in a note as required. As for Premium users, Document Search has been weaved into the utility. This feature looks through attached Microsoft Word, iWork or OpenOffice documents and displays all the relevant results.

Looks like coders of the note-taking app are not taking any chances by bringing out upgrades before its latest competitor, Keep, can take over its customer base. The Google service was recently launched as a desktop as well as an Android edition.

The Evernote for Windows Phone update can be downloaded from the company’s store and is available for versions 7.5 and up.
