Evernote 5 has appeared in the Apple app store answering the prayers of Mac owners in anticipation of its upgraded version. Just recently an updated version was released for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
The app has been redesigned to fit the needs of new and advanced Mac users. The left panel is the first step to exploring the app and broadcasts various options for swift access.
The topmost option is Shortcuts which gives immediate access to notes that are mainly used. Notes can be stacked, arranged and re-arranged under Shortcuts by simply dragging the items into the area below the option. To get rid of an item, all one has to do is drag it out.
Users are rescued from the hassle of hunting for notes they were previously working on, with the help of Recent Notes. It broadcasts the five latest created or edited items on the left panel below Shortcuts.
According to the official Evernote blog, sharing is a major aspect of this update. Thus, an attempt has been made to make sharing of notes and notebooks simpler. To prevent Mac owners from getting engulfed with updates, the company has also improved the performance of Activity Stream.
The Notes option in Evernote 5 for Mac, an improved version of All Notes, allows observing every item in a single view. The app has fused the personal and shared notebooks list to allow simultaneous viewing of both. Tags are exhibited in the list either alphabetically or by note count. Users can double click on them to see the content or click once to view other tags that share notes with the selected tag.
For those who have devices enabled with location services, the Atlas view displays every note on a map. Place Cards on the Atlas screen make it convenient to zoom into the area of the preferred note. Card View, which has been included in the Notes list, not only frames the notes in squares but also gives a preview of items with images as well as texts.
Two sorting options, the notebook selector drop down and the tag selector drop down, are placed above the Note list to enable instant categorization. The choice to make a single note dominant over the entire screen is also provided to permit editing without distraction. Moreover, the list of people having access to the shared notes can be seen above the item.
Improvements in the Search option has also been brought about to make browsing through a bulky account less tedious. The Type Ahead algorithm offers related suggestions based on the word typed in the search bar.
Evernote 5 for Mac has already landed in the Apple app store. The new version is available to Mac owners free of cost.
