A drained iPhone and no available charging option might seem like an ideal scenario for the Detached JuiceTank to jump into. Currently featuring on Kickstarter, the project comes across as a protective case cum charger for the 4 and 4S versions of the Apple smartphone.

Designed by Jesse Pliner and Lloyd Gladstone, the case is composed of polycarbonate which should make it durable enough to protect the iPhone. On its rear panel, the cover bears an integrated charger that can be plugged directly into a wall socket. The plug folds back into the body when not required and it can be popped out by the press of a single button.

“I had a bad habit of leaving my charger at home and getting stuck with a dead cellphone,” said Detached founder Jesse Pliner. “The JuiceTank is the perfect answer to this common problem, remarkable in its simplicity. When your case is your charger, you have everything you need to keep your iPhone looking great and fully charged at all times.”

The venture is currently seeking backers through the Kickstarter website. Enthusiasts can start by donating a minimum amount of $1. Early adopters who wish to pre-order a case themselves via pledging contributions may offer $40 or more. Supporters who assure the manufacturer a fund higher than $75 can earn a limited edition Kickstarter JuiceTank with green accents.

Starting this summer, the Detached JuiceTank is expected to retail for $70. The deadline for accepting Kickstarter pledges backing it is May 13, 2012.
