CNN App hops onto Android handsets

CNN App Sometimes it becomes tad difficult for those always on the move to keep up with what’s happening around the globe. With a view to keep avid users updated, CNN officially released a new free CNN App for Android handsets. It is said to seamlessly blend intuitive navigation with immersive news experience.

CNN App for Android phones enables users to instantly access CNN’s global resources ranging from live video reporting to viewer-generated content to a compilation of enterprise interviews. Lexus is the official launch sponsor for the CNN app in the U.S. and will feature the CT Hybrid model through clickable banner ads.

“Android users are extremely discerning, and will accept nothing less than a first-rate app that showcases high quality, world-class content – and enables them to share it,” expressed Louis Gump, vice president of Mobile at CNN. “We built the CNN App with these desires specifically in mind, and are excited to offer the millions of Android phone users around the world with access to CNN’s global reporting.”

The app displays daily news through audio, text or images, on-demand and live video, the network’s participatory news community as well as a direct link to CNN iReport. Users can select the menu button to toggle between the US and International editions, each of which includes CNN app features. It also incorporates a section devoted to audio content from CNN Radio.

This Radio section proffers original reports from CNN Radio correspondents, hourly updates, audio recordings of interviews from CNN television and podcast series based on politics, food, tech and entertainment. For quick accessibility, the app provides push-notification breaking news alerts and widget that permits viewing of the latest headlines directly from the handset’s home screen.

Additionally, the Profile section of the app presents users with further personalization to track local or weather news based on locations. The various images and text stories can be quickly shared from the app via Facebook and Twitter integration. It is compatible with Android devices running on 2.1 or later versions.

The CNN app for Android phones can be downloaded via the Android Market free of cost.
