Cellular South brings out HTC Desire

HTC Desire Previously, we had reported on the HTC Desire coming through U.S Cellular. U.S. citizens now have a variety of carrier choices to choose form as Cellular South has doffed the silk off the HTC Desire branded with its logo. Running on Android 2.1, this handset is a part of the 5 Android phones the carrier plans to unveil this year.

Operating on a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, it features the new HTC Sense experience. HTC Sense packs in a 7-panel home page as well as widget support. Adorning a super TFT 3.7 inch super LCD screen, this offers capacitive touch and a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. The device also proffers Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP connectivity. The Google Maps Navigation Beta uses GPS turn-by-turn navigation coupled with voice guidance as well as integrated GPS. Furthermore, the phone is pre-loaded with apps including two Cellular South Original ones namely, Text CS and Discover Apps along with a third Barcode Scanner application.

Cellular South plans to unveil 4 more Android-based smartphones by the end of 2010. It plans to launch three more Android-powered touchscreen smartphones and a Samsung Galaxy S family member. Cellular South’s HTC Desire will be retailing in Cellular South retail stores and the official website. Mobile aficionados can procure this phone after paying for $50 mail-in reward card. The handset is retailing for $149.99 and comes with a two-year service agreement.
