The Samsung Galaxy S series has captivated, fascinated and mesmerized several handset owners world over. The citizens of Canada who’ve picked up either the Fascinate, the Vibrant or the Captivate from carriers such as Bell, Rogers or Telus now have dulcet news in Store for them. The Samsung Mobile Canada Facebook page announces that owners of Bell’s Vibrant and Roger’s Captivate will receive the Android 2.2 update by mid-December. However, those who’ve picked up the Samsung Fascinate from Telus will have to wait until early 2011.

The Samsung Mobile Canada Facebook page displays a post stating that ‘We’d like to acknowledge the tremendous interest in the Froyo (Android 2.2) upgrade for Galaxy S series smartphones in Canada. We are working diligently to provide a tested and secure upgrade experience in Canada. Android 2.2 will be released for Vibrant from Bell and Captivate from Rogers in mid-December and for the Fascinate from Telus in early 2011. We’ll post further details as they become available.’

The Galaxy S series with its uniformed usage of the excellent Super AMOLED displays have made quite an uproar in the industry. Most of these beauties were unraveled this year operating on the robust 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird application processor. The Android 2.2 Froyo update has also been destined for other handsets one of which is the AT&T Dell Streak.
