BlackBerry Torch 2 fitted with 1.2GHz processor, rumored to retail by late Q3

BGR BlackBerry Torch 2 Blending in the benefits of a touchscreen with a QWERTY keypad, last year in august RIM doffed the silk off its BlackBerry Torch. The device back then was positioned as the best smartphone offered by the company ever. It now appears that the company has decided to move forward with fresher technology and innovation.

An image of the next-generation BlackBerry Torch has apparently been discovered by BoyGeniusReports. Along with a photo of the Torch 2, it highlights the internal specifications of the handset. As for the outer beauty of this phone, leaving aside the color and finish nothing much has been altered.

The BlackBerry Torch 2 flaunts a matte finish in silver hues when seen in this leaked image. Leaving behind the 600MHz CPU, this smartphone is rumored to be fitted with a processor that clocks at 1.2GHz. Adorned with a 3.2-inch VGA 640 x 480 capacitive touchscreen display, the handset operates on BlackBerry OS 6.1.

Maintaining its waistline at 14.6mm, the device is claimed to be fueled by a 1300 mAh battery. It bundles up Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, NFC, magnetometer, accelerometer, OpenGL ES and a proximity sensor. Apparently, the handset runs on Tri-band HSPA 14.4Mbps speeds and Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE networks.

The Torch 2 offers 512MB of RAM along with an internal memory of 8GB. The smartphone is loaded with a 5 megapixel camera featuring flash. The BlackBerry Torch 2 is speculated to come out by late Q3 2011, through AT&T.
