BlackBerry Smartphones add PocketCop Software from BIO-key

Scalar Teleglass T3-F Research In Motion (RIM) and BIO-key International, a leader in finger-based biometric identification and wireless public safety solutions, have joined hands to provide BIO-key software, PocketCop version 3.5 to BlackBerry smartphones.

The latest solution for BlackBerry has been create for federal and state law enforcement and motor vehicles databases for secure access from handheld devices. This software is useful to officers on foot, motorcycle, bike, marine and mounted patrol along with investigators and command-level staff. With PockCop, they can quickly and easily identify a wanted person or stolen vehicle directly from a BlackBerry smartphone.

This new version software includes CAD integration feature that enables consumers to receive dispatch information directly from the agency’s computer-aided dispatch system and send status updates to CAD silently and securely. It reduces radio communication between the dispatcher and the officer, keeping the critical details confidential.

An ideal solution in surveillance and undercover operations, BlackBerry users can install it without any additional cost, provided they are the current BIO-key customers with a CAD interface to MobileCop.

“CAD integration on BlackBerry smartphones is a significant advantage to the user agency,” said Michael DePasquale, BIO-key’s Chief Executive Officer. “It keeps all of the department’s officers and investigators informed and connected. And, with over the air deployment and updates, the savings in man-hours quickly provides a rapid return on investment by keeping IT personnel focused on the rest of the department’s needs.”

Supporting BlackBerry wireless platform’s built-in web browser, the PocketCop version 3.5 minimizes IT administration costs. By using the Over- the-Air deployment, the innovative and helpful software is available for download. Users can also activate the PocketCop thin client application software from any location to make the PocketCop-enabled BlackBerry smartphone fully operational.

It is believed that future software enhancements can be easily integrated into the handsets with automatic software updating.
