The BlackBerry Pearl 3G from RIM has come in to woo the Indian BlackBerry enthusiasts. The device was launched today at an event held in Mumbai. This handset is the smallest smartphone yet from the range of the BlackBerry offerings. It is loaded with impressive features from BlackBerry’s legacy and is uniquely impressive despite its small size.

The combination of its stylish design and effective and efficient features could usher in an era of sleek and glistening smartphones for all those who seek style with sense for their mobile handsets. This smartphone has an elegant candybar design with a width less than 50mm and weighting approximately 93gms. The handset is stylish and stands out for its vogue and finesse. As the name suggests, it has 3G compatibility and offers top end performance and paramount features, including email, messaging and social networking capabilities. It is claimed to be an engineering marvel and the design has been rated excellently.

The phone is equipped with a 3.2MP camera with flash, zoom, autofocus and video recording. It has a 238 ppi sharp-resolution display with 256 MB Flash memory. This BlackBerry device is said to be the first BlackBerry smartphone to support ‘n’ micro SD/SDHD memory card slot that supports up to 32GB cards. In addition, it features voice activated dialing, speaker phone and Bluetooth with support for hands-free headsets, stereo headsets, car kits and other Bluetooth accessories. The handset is outfitted with an optical trackpad for smooth navigation, dedicated volume and media keys for added convenience.

The new BlackBerry Pearl 3G will be available in India in two models, namely the BlackBerry Pearl 9100 and the BlackBerry Pearl 9105, the former featuring a 20-key condensed QWERTY keyboard and the latter with a 14-key traditional phone keyboard. Both these models are installed with SureType software ensuring completion of words as the user types, making texting fast and accurate.
