Blackberry devices receive upgraded Enterprise Server Express

Updated BES

Earlier, RIM introduced version 6 of its operating system for its BlackBerry line of devices. Now, the company takes center stage again with a new upgrade for the Enterprise Server Express software. Through this upgrade, users can receive specialized business features with no additional or per user license fees, accessible on most of personal or enterprise data plans.

The update allows users to redeem full html email, edit attachments, flag emails for follow-up, search emails which are no longer stored on the handsets and more. Users can wirelessly sync business email, calendar, contacts, tasks list and memos without connecting the handset to the PCs. They can further send and accept meeting invitations right on their Blackberry devices without updating the desktop, thanks to the up-to-date calendar feature. This feature allows users to even search the availability of their colleagues and see calendar attachments.

Furthermore, users can enjoy an integrated contacts list. With this feature, the contacts added in the Microsoft Outlook syncs directly to the address book of the smartphones without connecting to the PCs. Files stored on the business network or intranet containing documents of Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel can be remotely downloaded, viewed and edited from their handset for further storing or mailing as required.

After the upgrade, the handsets will support up to 75 and 2000+ users installed on the mail and dedicated servers and should be compatible with Microsoft Exchange 2003 SP2 and Windows Small Business Server 2003 as well. Additionally, by utilizing the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) or Triple Data Encryption Standard, users can effortlessly send data between Blackberry Enterprise Server and smartphones.

Users can download the Blackberry Enterprise Server Express update for free.
