Just hours after we caught a glimpse of RIM’s future plans with the BBX OS which seem pretty bright, an official announcement was made by the Canadian manufacturer regarding the release of the BlackBerry Bold 9790 and BlackBerry Curve 9380. We did have a faint idea about this upcoming launch when we first heard about the London smartphone.

Both these devices are next in line to expand the portfolio of BlackBerry 7 OS handsets. The Bold 9790 is equipped with a QWERTY keypad as well as a touchscreen, along with an optical trackpad. Embedded with a 1GHz processor, the device comes with user memory of 8GB, while the external memory is expandable up to 32GB with a microSD card slot.

“We are very excited to expand the BlackBerry 7 portfolio with the new BlackBerry Bold 9790 and BlackBerry Curve 9380,” commented Carlo Chiarello, Senior Vice President, Handheld Product Management at RIM. “BlackBerry smartphones offer a uniquely refined mobile communications experience that people love and we think many customers will be thrilled by the faster performance, beautiful touch displays and compact designs available with these new BlackBerry 7 based models.”

On the other hand, the Curve 9380 is designed as a full touch device with a 3.2-inch high resolution touchscreen. The rear of this device is adorned by a 5MP camera with flash, which allows video recording and capturing fun moments into images as well. Apart from BBM, this handset is pre-loaded with Facebook, Twitter and Social Feeds apps.

The BlackBerry Bold 9790 or the BlackBerry Curve 9380 release date and price details have not been divulged yet. However, they are said to be expected from various carriers in the coming few weeks.
