It was earlier speculated that the new generation touch-based smartphone Palm Pre would be offered for a price of $500 without any contract. According to I4U, Best Buy has slashed the price of the device directly to $99.99.
This new price will allow customers to save nearly $100 and is only applicable to those who get into a contract with the company. They don’t even require any mail-in-rebate as all rebates are instant.
The Palm Pre will possesses a 3.1-inch display with a 320 x 480 resolution. It will offer EVDO Rev. A for connectivity as well as support Wi-Fi and 2.1+EDR Bluetooth. Furthermore, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 3.5mm headset jack, an 8GB of on-board storage in addition to a replaceable battery are also included in the phone. The smartphone will operate on the webOS platform and integrates a 3 megapixel camera with LED flash.
The new price is likely to attract those with second thoughts about owning the iPhone.
