Beebone computer virus attacks Indian cyberspace

Beebone computer virus, a type of Trojan malware has been found in the Indian cyberspace and users across the country have been warned to protect their systems from it. This particular virus paves the way for a number of harmful malware that follow Beebone into a PC.

Trojan usually fakes its identity to get unauthorized access into vulnerable systems and considering that Beebone belongs to the same family, it adopts similar means to infect. It can take up to 20 masks or aliases to attack a computer which has not been protected with a powerful anti-virus. The Computer Emergency Response Team-India (CERT-In) has issued a statement to let people know about its ill effects.

According to this national internet and computer security sleuths organization, it downloads and installs malware without the owner’s knowledge. In order to safeguard PCs from this virus’ attacks this association has revealed a set of instructions that users in the region must follow, says a report on PTI.

Computer owners should be careful while inserting a removable flash drive or other external storage devices as they may contain this virus. Pirated software and content is more likely to carry this and similar malware and hence people are requested to avoid downloading this kind of material. They should also stay away from untrusted websites.

Apart from this, it is necessary to keep an updated anti-virus and anti-spyware program in the computer and deactivate the autorun function in Windows-based PCs. Password protecting the computer is necessary and password policies should be enabled for advanced security. Users are also advised to keep patches and fixes for software as well as operating systems on their respective systems.
