BlackBerry Messenger 7 offers Voice Chat to OS 5 and later versions in India, more features in tow

When BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) 7 had introduced Voice Chat in December, devices running versions below BB6 were kept away from the perks. This changed in March when an update brought support for BB5 phones. The present situation has BlackBerry rolling out the same service in India, packed with a bunch of features.

This means those in the country with smartphones optimized for BB5 and higher can now give their fingers some rest and make free calls to their folks and friends through the messenger. It goes without saying that their handsets will naturally require Wi-Fi support or a data connection to benefit from the service.

Voice Chat

Some may be pleased to know that employing the feature will still give them enough freedom to chat with others, send pictures and carry out additional functions simultaneously. BBM7 also brings in BBID integration which accumulates all contacts and groups under one account. So punching in the ID is all it takes while flashing the phone, switching devices or performing other upgrades in order to recover personal details.

And just like in the global update, the software comes with a plethora of new emoticons. The catch in the whole scenario is that conversations can only be held with people who are online of course, and it would be wise to notify pals before calling them. Those who would like to see it in action, can take a look at the video attached below.

BBM7 has currently been made available for free through the company’s official app store.

Here are the features introduced by the update:

– Voice Chat
– BBID integration
– 16 new emoticons
