E-reading software is swiftly making its way from eReaders to mobile handsets. Barnes & Noble had unleashed its highly anticipated Nook sometime back and the company now updates its Nook-branded eReading software for the iPhone.

This next-gen Nook for iPhone application promises to deliver simplified and easier reading experience. Mobile device lets users access the entire clan of Nook eReading software and apps, enabling them to lay their hands on more than one million digital titles. Alongside, they can use the LendMe technology to share eBooks with others.

Following the footsteps of its iPad application, Barnes & Noble lets Nook for iPhone users customize the content with an attractive reading experience on their handhelds. They can optimize content for day and night reading and choose from numerous colors for fonts, backgrounds or links. They can control brightness for a comfortable reading experience. The new iPhone 4 users can enjoy the eBook cover art and text on the Retina display while it can also be used by earlier iPhone models.

“We are committed to offering an easy-to-use, comfortable, and fun Nook eReading experience across multiple platforms. Nook for iPhone users can shop Barnes & Noble’s vast catalog of eBooks, while enjoying new, customization features and sharing their favorite eBooks with friends for free,” said Douglas Gottlieb, Vice President, Digital Products for Barnes & Noble.com. “Nook for iPhone puts thousands of eBooks in your pocket, and the reading experience is fantastic. It’s another way that Barnes & Noble’s Nook offering makes it truly easy to read what you love, anywhere you like.”

The new Nook for iPhone encompasses line spacing, font style and sizes. With publisher’s original setting, the e-book can be viewed just how it was intended to be. Some more attributes include portrait or landscape viewing, one-touch access to highlight, and making notes or bookmarking a page.

Nook for iPhone has the ability to initiate, accept and defer eBook lending right inside the app. It can also be used to read across multiple devices by syncing the last page of the latest e-book accessed on the iPhone with other Nook software-enabled devices such as the iPad, Android smartphone (OS 1.6 or higher) or Windows-based PC laptop or netbook.

Some more features of the Nook for iPhone include access to Barnes & Noble eBookstore and full featured library.
