Asus Pegasus X002 featuring 64-bit processor, 2GB RAM goes official

While we’re patiently waiting for the new ZenFone series, the Asus Pegasus X002 smartphone has been made official, giving us a peek of what’s to come from the brand. The new handset follows the same design language which is being used for the current handset lineup and it’s being touted as an ultra-affordable release.

The Asus Pegasus X002 is initially destined for launch in China, where it’s priced at 799 Yuan. After conversion, that amounts to just US$129 or around Rs 8140 in India. Clearly, the company is going after other Chinese giants like Xiaomi and Huawei which have some great low-cost devices in the segment.

The new Asus phone may look like the previous releases, but it’s designed with the latest hardware available in the market. The handset takes its place on the mid-range shelf as it offers a 5-inch 720p HD IPS display. Accompanying the screen on the outside are dual cameras, a 5MP shooter on the front and an 8MP snapper on the rear, which can take ultra-high resolution images of up to 30MP, notes GizmoChina.

As great as the feature sounds, a similar capability has already been available through a few Oppo handsets. The main attraction of this device is its processor which is a 1.5GHz quad core MT6732 chip with 64-bit support and Mali-T670 graphics. Other highlights of the smartphone include Android 4.4 KitKat, 4G LTE support, dual SIM slots and a 2500mAh battery.
