Asus Eee Pad tablet range to be updated with Android Ice Cream Sandwich

Fresh out of the oven is the new thats tablets in the Asus Eee Pad series will soon be updated to Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Also known as Android 4.0, Google’s latest spin on their mobile operating system was released earlier this month and already has many devices lined up to be upgraded with its improved features.

The Ice Cream Sandwich update for Asus Eee Pad tablets should offer up a host of new and enhanced functionalities such as better copy and paste along with data logging and warnings. The error correction and word suggestion features have been considerably improved with a new set of default dictionaries and more accurate heuristics. Other features include Face Unlock, a refreshed user interface, quick text response and NFC powered Android Beam.

The official Asus Facebook page states, “Google recently announced the latest update for Android, Ice Cream Sandwich, which brings some exciting new features and capabilities. At Asus, we pride ourselves on delivering a great experience with our products, thanks to frequent updates that further enhance our products’ capabilities.”

And the post continues, “We’re delighted to confirm support for Ice Cream Sandwich on the Asus Eee Pad Family – our aim is to bring the latest Android update to the Eee Pad Series, but at this time we are unable to set a date for its release. Please stay tuned for more news on our Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade plans.”

The Asus Eee tablet series consists of the Eee Slate EP121, Eee Slate B121, Eee Pad Transformer TF101 and TF101G and Eee Pad Slider SL101. So fans of the Google OS who’ve been walking around with one of these or hoping to do so can expect an update sooner or later.

Details regarding the exact availability schedule of the Android Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Asus Eee Pad tablet range have not yet been disclosed.
