Nokia has disclosed four mobile phones under its new Asha series namely, the Nokia Asha 300, 303, 201 and 200. Aimed to fit under the ‘affordably priced’ bracket, the series gets its name from the Hindi word ‘Asha’ meaning hope and is touted to be aptly christened for the opportunities of communication and connectivity its provides to users.
Out of the four, three are dual-SIM phones and all of them feature third-party apps. The Nokia Asha 303 gives users an option between its QWERTY keyboard and the 2.6-inch capacitive touchscreen for input. Running on a 1GHz engine, it comes pre-installed with various apps such as Angry Birds Lite and Nokia Maps besides providing support for Facebook Chat and Whatsapp messenger.
The Nokia Asha 300, like its 303 counterpart, lends support to 3G as well as WLAN connectivity options and features a QWERTY keypad along with a 2.4-inch touchscreen. Embedded with a 5MP camera, it comprises of features like a music player, FM radio, Bluetooth connectivity and it can manage memory cards of up to 32GB.
The QWERTY keypad-embedding Nokia Asha 200 mobile phone is equipped with the Easy Swap feature that lets users easily change their second SIM without switching the device off. It boasts of being integrated with social networking, email and IM along with support for RenRen, Orkut and Flickr.
Furthermore, the handset delivers a playback time of up to 52 hours. The only single SIM Nokia Asha phone is the 201 which has almost the same functionalities as the 200 including support for up to 32GB memory, Whatsapp messaging, FM radio and music playback of up to 52 hours.
While the Nokia Asha 300, 303 and 200 are scheduled to start shipping from the fourth quarter of this year, the Nokia Asha 201 will be available by the first quarter of 2012. The Asha 300 and 303 are priced at approximately €85 €115, respectively. The Asha 200 and 201 carry price labels of €60 apiece.
