AnyDATA to launch 2G and 3G broadband modules for mobile internet devices

AnyDATA Logo New technological innovations seem to turn everything sleek and compact. The latest is in terms of 2G and 3G modules for mobile internet devices. AnyDATA has announced the launch of the DTW series of low-cost embedded CDMA and GSM/HSPA modules for mobile internet devices. These modules have been specifically engineered to measure only 21mm x 22mm x 4.5mm, making them smaller than a quarter and weigh a measly 4 grams. These modules have been created to cater to a variety of communication platforms such as digital photo frames, mobile healthcare devices, smart grid and meter readers, automotive telematics and interactive multimedia terminals.

This series of the DTW low cost modules will exploit the same 90-pin connector and USB 2.0 interface. This helps organizations to make use of the variations of the modules to operate on various cellular networks in a cost-effective manner. The AnyDATA DTW-200 module makes use of the CDMA 1X networks while the AnyDATA DTW-500 operates on the 3G EVDO Rev A technology. Both wireless modules relate to the RUIM interface and function on CDMA 800MHz and 1900MHz. The implemented modules feature A-GPS location which allows indoor tracking of the device without seeing the GPS satellites. The DTW-400 module operates on the UMTS/EDGE/GPRS/GSM networks, whereas the DTW-600 utilizes the quad band GSM network as well as the tri-band UMTS network that supports hi-speed HSPA technology.

CEO, AnyDATA, Dr. Soon B.Shin, said that, “We are pleased to continue AnyDATA’s trademark innovation by offering these tiny, embedded 2G and 3G data modules. We believe this small form factor will enable a new category of connected consumer devices for better healthcare, personal security, and anywhere Internet connectivity.” While Jack Steenstra, Vice President of engineering said that, “Qualcomm’s Wearable Mobile Device module design leverages our chipset technology to provide high performance in a very small form factor. AnyDATA’s new module products will open entirely new opportunities for developers seeking to create wearable wireless products.”

AnyDATA will be producing numerous versions of these modules which have been designed as per Qualcomm’s Wearable Mobile Device module. All the modules in this series include GPS for real-time tracking and accelerometer for motion sensing applications. The engineered samples of these wireless modules are expected to hit the market in April for OEM consumers. The company is said to demonstrate the new DTW series along with its other products which includes smartphones, 3G USB modems, mini-PCIE modules and personal tracking devices at an upcoming international wireless show in Las Vegas.
