All the anticipation and eagerness surrounding the new Angry Birds Space game can now be turned to sport. Don’t get us wrong, because for fans who have been waiting for the birds to be swung into the outer universe, Rovio has finally done it on the date it had confirmed earlier.
The background story for the title has also been revealed through a video. This time around, the pigs use an advanced technique to steal the eggs, which keeps their identity a secret for quite some time. While the birds are having a fun day in the garden, the new Ice Bird character drops in from space with a golden egg. Following him is a mechanical hand which takes away all the eggs. This obviously infuriates the winged creatures, making each one load itself in the slingshot only to be hurled beyond the sky’s limit.
“This is Rovio at its finest, and we are more than excited to bring Angry Birds Space to all our fans worldwide,” expressed Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio. “This launch marks a huge step for us as a company, and our whole team and partners have really pulled together to bring out a fantastic array of exciting products and experiences. Upon release, the game title is has been designed with 60 levels and some free updates will be introduced gradually. It features several secret stages, space content, plus hidden goodies. In-app purchases for iOS and other editions will give access to more content. Launching simultaneously across Android, iOS, Mac, PC, publishing mediums and as merchandise, this release will mark the first multi-platform outing for Rovio.
Angry Birds Space can be downloaded free of cost for Android. Ad-free versions for smartphones and tablets operating on this platform will soon be released for $0.99 and $2.99, respectively. The iOS compatible version can be grabbed for $0.99 from iTunes. The HD edition for the iPad is priced at $2.99.
