The Android Software Development Kit now offers support for Android 2.0, says Android Developers. The Android 2.0 that is also known as the Eclair claims to bring in new developer APIs for sync, Bluetooth, and a few other areas.

Reportedly, the smartphone market will witness an increase in the number of Android 1.5, 1.6 and 2.0-capable devices over the next few months. Keeping this in view, the Android SDK will now offer support for Android 2.0 OS. This new development kit will accommodate code coverage through the Ant build system. It will also offer support for Mac OS x 10.6 and its supplementary tools.

Using the new development kit, developers can write applications to enable users to sync their devices as well as provide a faster way to communicate with others by embedding quick contact features. The new Bluetooth API lets developers add peer-to-peer connectivity or gaming to their applications.

The kit also allows developers to check the compatibility of their apps with the Android 2.0 powered devices by downloading the Android 2.0 platform. They can also ensure the operability of the apps with WVGA and FWVGA screens with the assistance of this kit.

The Android SDK kit with support for Android 2.0 operating system can be downloaded from the Android Developers website.
