The updated version of the recently launched Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS called Android 4.0.3 has now been released. Besides this, some of the SDK tools have also undergone changes for the better.

Android 4.0.3 comes integrated with a variety of bug fixes and optimizations for mobile phones and tablets. According to the Android developers blog, certain new APIs for developers are on their way and the new API level is 15. The updated version of this mobile platform comes along with various improvements in the calendar provider by which apps can now add color to events. New kinds of attendees and states have been made available for facilitating an easier tracking process.

The camera functions have been enhanced so that applications are now able to oversee and manage video stabilization as well as employ QVGA resolution profiles wherever they are required. Moreover, access to content for screen readers has been improved and the revamped platform features new status and error reporting for text-to-speech engines.

Among the many changes, the updated mobile platform boasts of incremental improvements in components such as graphics, database, spell-checking, Bluetooth and many others. The upgraded version makes it possible for applications that employ social stream data like providing status updates and check-ins, to sync that data with each of the user’s contacts. This will simplify the browsing process for device owners as the items will be seen in a stream alongside respective photos for each.

The blog states that Android 4.0.3 is scheduled to be available for production phones and tablets in the upcoming weeks.
