T-Mobile has recently announced that its updated Android 1.5 Cupcake firmware is now available for G1 handsets. This updated version promises to offer many new features to customers along with a variety of bug fixes and improvements over the previous version.

This new update will feature an onscreen virtual keyboard to easily send text messages and emails through the phone. It will also offer better support for accelerometers to adjust the display when the phone is titled on its side.

The Android 1.5 offers greater support for videos, enabling G1 users to record video clips using the built-in 3.2 MP camera as well as play videos in 3GP and MPEG-4 format. With the updated version, users will now be able to upload their videos on YouTube and still images on their personal Picasa web album.

Additionally, the new version will support Bluetooth stereo headsets, which is a feature that has been missing in the G1 community for a long time. The Android 1.5 also includes various detailed user interface improvements and it will now also allow developers to create their own widgets.

With the inclusion of missing attributes in this updated version, which will enable T-Mobile’s G1 to enter the markets as a stronger player. This smartphone comes with a 3.2 inch touchscreen display, GPS and Wi-Fi. It also features a 3.2 megapixel camera and supports memory expansion via microSD card slot.

T-Mobile also said that it is planning to introduce another Android based mobile phone by this year. Customers will receive the code for an automatic download for this 1.5 update directly on their smartphones sometime during May.
