Amazon set to revamp Kindle experience with audio video clips

Amazon Kindle Amazon has just ushered in some delightful news for iPhone users. The company has announced that Kindle Apps for the Apple device will be embedded with video and audio clips. Kindle book lovers will now be able to enjoy their reading sessions on their handset with AV inputs.

The audio and video clips integrated in the Kindle App will enhance reading experience and provide additional inputs such as cooking tips, insights on specific travel locations and so on to users. Books such as Rick Steves’ London by Rick Steves and Together We Cannot Fail by Terry Golway are already available in the new format.

“We are excited to add this functionality to Kindle for iPad and Kindle for iPhone and iPod touch,” remarked Dorothy Nicholls, Director, Amazon Kindle. “Readers will already find some Kindle Editions with audio/video clips in the Kindle Store today–from Rose’s Heavenly Cakes with video tips on preparing the perfect cake to Bird Songs with audio clips that relate the songs and calls to the birds’ appearances. This is just the beginning–we look forward to seeing what authors and publishers create for Kindle customers using the new functionality of the Kindle apps.”

These editions of Kindle are already available with Kindle App and can also be employed on the iPad and iPod Touch. The manufacturer has also announced that the Kindle for iPhone 4 will be optimized to allow users to enjoy its new Retina Display technology.

“We are truly excited to have collaborated with Amazon to launch Kindle Editions with audio/video,” commented Peter Balis, Director, Digital Content Sales, Wiley. “Innovations like these represent the advantages that digital can offer. Advancing our content in this manner is important for our authors and our readers and it will raise the bar on what digital reading can offer for years to come.”

The iPhone users can access the available books with the new functionality from the Kindle Store at amazon.com/kindleaudiovideo.
