All iPhone 16 Models Could Ship With Action Button, Says Report

Apple iPhone 15 Pro

If a new report is to be believed, all handsets from next year’s iPhone 16 range could come with the Action button that was introduced by the iPhone 15 Pro models this year. Moreover, there’s even word that the iPhone 16 Pro variants will see an upgraded version of this button.

Apple’s September launch of the iPhone 15 range introduced us to the Action button that ended up replacing the trusty old Mute switch and giving plenty of added functionality to the new button. However, it skipped the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus and was only seen on the Pro models.

According to MacRumors, that’s supposed to change next year. The website cited “extensive evidence” while reporting that all handsets from the iPhone 16 range will feature the Action button. But that doesn’t mean that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models won’t have novelty in this department.

It’s being pointed out that they could get the Action button in its new form, which will eschew a physical existence for a haptic one, quite like the home button present on the iPhone SE from 2022.

Speaking of the iPhone SE range, the next entry to this lineup is also likely to get the Action button when it comes out in 2025. This means that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus could be the last Apple smartphones with a Mute switch.

The Action button on the iPhone 15 Pro models gives users quick access to a lot many more things than just muting the ringer. They can program it to activate the flashlight, change the Focus mode, launch the camera, trigger a Shortcut, and more.

Rumors about the iPhone 16 range are just getting started so stay tuned for more in the months to come.
