Acer Iconia A1-810 aspiring to battle iPad mini?

Acer is presumably gearing up to release the Iconia A1-810 in the first week of June and this slate may be going up against the iPad mini with exactly the same 7.9-inch display parading a resolution of 1,024 x 768 pixels. It might moreover stand be a cheaper alternative for those who are eyeing Apple’s tablet since its price tag might read €199 to €140 less as compared to that of the 16GB mini slab.

Buzz around town reveals that version 4.2 of Android will breathe life into the tablet, while a 1.2GHz quad core MediaTek MT8125 processor will be the force driving it from within. Similar to the iPad mini’s camera, the slate’s main snapper too will possess a 5MP sensor. The device will however carry a VGA front-facing webcam as opposed to the latter’s 1.2MP FaceTime lens.

If rumors prove to be true, the slate will not only be providing an internal storage space of 16GB like the iPad mini at a lesser amount, but it will also offer expandability options which is a choice not given by Apple. Connectivity-related highlights of the slate supposedly consist of support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and an HDMI port.

Appearance-wise, people can expect the device stretching up to a height of 208.7mm, width of 145.7mm and thickness of 10.5mm. Moreover, it could tip the scales at 460 grams, probably including the weight of a 3,250mAh battery.

The news, courtesy Unwired View, states that the Acer Iconia A1-810 may start rolling out from June 3. This piece of information together with all of the aforementioned details had initially been reported by a French site going by the name MiniMachines, which had come across the tidbit through an e-retailer, Rue du Commerce.
