The Archos FamilyPad price has been declared in the UK and with its release date set for next month, the tablet is all set to make its first appearance soon. After introducing the kid-friendly ChildPad, the consumer electronics company now seeks to target families as well.
The device is based on the Android Ice Cream Sandwich platform and brings to people the game-playing and movie-watching experience on a full HD display that measures a little over 13 inches. The 10-point multi-touch capability of the capacitive screen allows up to four family members to play digital games simultaneously.
From loading HD videos to social networking, all such functions are delivered by an ARM Cortex A8 processor with a clock speed of 1GHz thrown in along with 1GB of RAM. Moreover, seen on the slab are slots to insert a micro USB cable and a microSD card.
Similar to most tablets, the FamilyPad comes with 2 moderate 2MP cameras, one positioned on the rear and one on the user-facing side. To store images and videos that are captured by the snapper, customers can make use of the 8GB worth of internal memory that can be expanded up to 32GB, using a microSDHC card.
The slate not only serves as an organizer but provides social network and chat applications too. Furthermore it gives access to newspapers, traffic updates, sports news, weather forecast and much more. It will be made available with a host of pre-installed games with a view to keeping users tied to their gadgets from the very first moment.
The Archos FamilyPad UK release date is expected fall in the early weeks of December this year. The 13-incher can be purchased at a price of £274.99 and will also be packaged along with a quick stand to enable convenient usage.
