12 megapixels camera phone, Pixon12 launched by Samsung

Samsung Pixon12The wait is now over for camera phone lovers across the world. Samsung introduces Pixon12 aka M8910 – the world’s first 12-megapixel camera phone with a full-touch screen. The Samsung phone satiates the needs of the camera savvy consumers by providing a range of features that enable effortless capturing, sharing, and browsing of images. It presents an excellent visual display on its 3.1-inch AMOLED full touch screen.

The handset permits users to capture pictures swiftly and easily. A dedicated Camera Power Key facilitates fast one touch access to the camera functionality. It is at par with digital cameras allowing users to aim and snap, just like them .Fast image saving capability for next shot is also imbibed in it, which allows users to move to the next shot within 2 seconds.

“The Pixon12 is testament to how Samsung’s ongoing consumer research enables us to develop ground-breaking products that do not just meet but surpass our customers’ expectations. Speedy access to the camera mode, fast shutter speed and quick browsing are some of the key factors consumers are looking for in their mobile phone cameras,” marked Executive Vice President JK Shin, Head of Mobile Communication Division in Samsung Electronics.

“We are very pleased to introduce the world’s first 12-megapixel camera phone that holds the answer to these pressing consumer needs,” he continued.

By providing novel camera features best photo quality can be ensured. Users can now customize images with the touch of a finger by the Touch Auto-Focus (AF) tracking. By means of this technology users can touch a focus point which from thereon will be on focus even when the image moves across the screen. Another exciting feature of the phone is the Smart Auto feature wherein users can capture wonderful images as the camera automatically changes scene and mode based on its object, background and lighting.

The handset provides exuberant lens and Xenon flash. Full image capture is possible since it boasts of 28mm wide angle lens. Captured pictures can be enjoyed on the wide 3.1” AMOLED screen. The screen features a contrast ratio of 10,000:1 and also provides power saving features thereby increasing the battery life. Sorting is effortless with this device which offers various sorting means like by tags, file names, ratings and time. Moreover the multi selection feature allows users to select images collectively rather than individually making editing and viewing quick.

The Samsung Share Pix technology allows images and videos to be easily uploaded to popular networking sites like Facebook, Picasa, Flickr, My Space, Photo bucket, Friendster .The Wi-Fi and HSUPA high-connectivity services allows users to share their photos with friends rapidly.

The Samsung Pixon12 will be available from end of June, 2009 in European countries and it will be further extended to other regions from August. The price of the handset is not disclosed yet.
