Oppo wants to join hands with Reliance Jio and Airtel for offering 4G LTE phones in India

Oppo has grown to be one of the most popular OEMs from China and it plans to bring a portfolio of 4G devices to India soon. The company is reportedly in talks with Airtel and Reliance Jio in order to create tie-ups and provide LTE services for its handsets.

Speaking to Econimic Times, Oppo India’s General Manager Steven Shi Feng disclosed that the company plans to bring a total of 5 new smartphones with LTE capable radios onboard. Additionally, one of the phones will be aggressively priced, selling below Rs 10,000. The Chinese OEM hasn’t provided a roster of models as yet, but considering that it has a small portfolio of devices, we’re assuming that it’s referring to unreleased handsets.

Oppo Find 7 Launch

Oppo isn’t the only Chinese OEM pushing its way into the Indian market. ZTE has confirmed that it plans to launch 6 new Android smartphones in the future, but has made no mention whether they will support LTE. Speaking of which, the iPhone 5S and 5C, the LG G2, the HTC One M8, the Nexus 7 2013, the Xolo LT900 and Oppo’s own Find 7 are amongst the few 4G enabled devices currently available in India.

What’s more, LTE networks haven’t been established throughout the country as yet. Airtel has its TD-LTE services running in a few locations, while Reliance Jio plans to launch its own in the coming months. Idea Cellular and Vodafone are expected to follow suite.

Oppo’s recently launch Find 7 flagship is priced at Rs 37,990 in India with a QHD display or Rs 31,990 for a lower-specced 1080p version. We’ll get back with more details about the tie-up with Reliance Jio and Airtel when available.
