Panasonic P81 launched in India for Rs 18,990 sports 13MP camera and octa core CPU

The Panasonic P81 has been unveiled in India for Rs 18,990 soon after Panasonic slid out a few teasers announcing its upcoming release. The P81 handset is one of more expensive ones to have hit the Indian market of late, though it does have an octa core processor from MediaTek to justify its tag.

The P81 phablet falls into the category of a phablet owing to its 5.5-inch screen, which incidentally spits out visuals in 720p resolution. The feature that’s most talked about is its 8-core chipset clocked at a speed of 1.7GHz. Quite pitifully, the Panasonic P81 works on Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 OS instead of the updated version, though buyers can probably expect a KitKat break in the future.

Panasonic P81 specs:

– Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 OS
– 5.5-inch 720 x 1280p IPS touchscreen
– 13MP main camera, 2MP front lens
– 1.7GHz octa core processor
– 1GB of RAM, 8GB internal memory
– Expandable storage up to 32GB
– Dual SIM card slots
– 2500mAh battery

Another shortcoming is the smartphone’s low RAM of just 1GB. There’s 8GB of onboard storage as well as a microSD card slot for adding up to 32GB of extra memory in case you fall short of hoarding space. A 13MP camera is glued to the back panel of the device and a 2MP one sits above the display for making video calls or clicking selfies.

Although the official price of the Panasonic P81 is marked at Rs 18990, you can get it for a discounted price of Rs 17999 from Snapdeal. The device has yet to make an appearance through other online retailers in India.
