Airtel announces speedy 4G LTE in Ludhiana for mobile and broadband users

Bharti Airtel has started offering 4G LTE service for mobile and broadband customers in Ludhiana, not long after it extended the same to subscribers in Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula who prefer speedy internet right at their fingertips. In other words, the network operator was seen launching mobile access via 4G for those who like surfing the web on their smartphones or tablets.

In February of this year, Bharti Airtel was seen setting up its 4G LTE network for mobile devices including the iPhone 5S and 5C in Bangalore. Although you will be able to browse the internet on TD-LTE, Airtel will swing towards Circuit Switched FallBack (CSFB) technology that needs 2G or 3G coverage for when you make or receive calls.

With support for 4G LTE on all sorts of devices, users can opt to sign up to access it via dongles, Wi-Fi routers or phones/tablets. With reference to the rates, it will be Rs 999 for postpaid customers using a compatible dongle, router or mobile and Rs 995 for prepaid handsets. The tariff plans will begin as low as Rs 100 for those on billing/postpaid accounts.

Bharti Airtel owns spectrum for Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) in the Kolkata, Maharashtra (not inclusive of Mumbai though), Punjab and Karnataka circles. Additionally, the company grabbed 49% interest in Qualcomm AP’s India units which have won BWA licenses for Haryana, Delhi, Mumbai and Kerala.

The Times of India notes that 4G mobile internet can deliver download speeds of around 100Mbps while users are not in a fixed location and this can go up to 1Gbps if you’re stationary. So you know what you’re missing now in case you don’t reside in the circles enjoying Airtel 4G LTE.
