Panasonic T31 takes on the budget-friendly segment in India

Panasonic may have quit the smartphone market, but it still seems to have a few devices left to unveil. The T31 is a budget-friendly offering from the company that recently went official in India and it is being touted with an affordable price tag of below Rs 8,000.

Unlike the P11, T11 and T21 handsets which went official last month running Android 4.1, the Panasonic T31 comes pre-loaded with version 4.2 Jelly Bean instead. In appearance, the device is strikingly similar to the Galaxy S3 mini and based on the press images, you’ll be receiving a custom launcher that resembles LG’s Optimus UI quite a bit. Also, the phone is eligible for future updates which are said to arrive over the air.

The T31 is 11.95mm thick and it weighs 120 grams. The phone dons a 4-inch WVGA touchscreen on the front with a VGA webcam and a 3.2MP camera on the rear. Fitted on the inside is a dual core 1.3GHz processor to power up the handset and a 1300mAh battery which can deliver approximately 400 hours of standby or 9.5 hours of talktime on 3G networks.

The device is dual SIM compatible and it supports Bluetooth 4.0, HSPA+, Wi-Fi and A-GPS. Memory provisions are in the hands of 512MB RAM, 4GB flash storage and a microSD card slot. The device also has various Google Play services pre-loaded including Games, Music, Store and Movies.

If you’re looking to get your hands on the Panasonic T31, no online retailer has stocked the device as yet, but the company’s website does provide a list of local outlets where the phone is available. The price is tagged at Rs 7,990.
