Apple has ‘a lot to cover’ at October 22 event, expect new iPads, MacBook Pro

Apple has started issuing invites for an event on October 22 which basically means that previous rumors have been spot on with the details. And while there’s no official word on what new devices the Cupertino giant has to unveil next week, the invite states that the company still has ‘a lot to cover.’

What you can expect to see at the event is a fifth generation iPad, a successor to last year’s mini tablet and an updated MacBook Pro laptop. According to Apple Insider, the iPad 5 will be the first since the second generation slate to feature a major hardware redesign. Also, the overall form factor could pay more resemblance to its smaller sibling than its predecessor.

Apple iPads

One of the most interesting changes being rumored is that the 9.7-inch tablet will have a thinner bezel on both sides. The main purpose of this is to help reduce the device’s size and overall weight. The slate will proffer a high resolution Retina display and it will obviously come with iOS 7 pre-installed. To power it up, Apple could use its A7 processor that’s based on 64-bit architecture.

However, the company usually sticks to tradition, so we’re expecting an A7X which will be beefier than the CPU found in the iPhone 5S. There’s also the possibility of the Touch ID fingerprint sensor being onboard. The iPad mini 2 is rumored to come with a Retina display and it should be slightly thicker than its predecessor to accommodate a larger battery.

Apart from new iPads, Apple will also refresh its MacBook Pro with Haswell processors and Apple Insider suggests that a hardware update for the Apple TV could also be on the cards for October 22.
