Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear land in India bearing hefty price tags

One’s a successor and one’s a completely new product; the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy Gear smartwatch haven’t wasted much time in making their debuts in India following an unveiling earlier this month. While the new phablet has its price placed at Rs 49,900, the wrist-based device will be made available at Rs 22,990.

The high price tag makes the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 the most expensive phone being offered by the South Korean giant in the country at the moment. Equipped with a new and improved S Pen, the device features a full HD 5.7-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display. Android v4.3 is its preferred OS, while its other highlights include a 13 MP primary camera, a 2MP webcam, 3GB worth of RAM and a 1.9GHz octa core processor. It comes with 32GB of internal memory and also possesses a microSD card slot for further expansions of up to 64GB.

The Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch is the first of its kind from the company, and at the moment, it only works with the Note 3. However, it will be granted support for other devices in the future. The small gadget carries a 1.63-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen and a 1.9MP camera. Moreover, a noise cancelling microphone and a speaker also find their way onto. A range of health-based applications and other useful software have been crammed into it.

It’s not clear as to when the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear smartwatch will be officially released in India, but interested parties can take note that the devices can be pre-ordered now through the company’s eStore.
