Watch out for Lumia 1520 phablet at Nokia’s October 22 event

Will the Lumia 1520 be the Bandit that steals the heart of every Nokia fan showing withdrawal symptoms since Microsoft took over the company? The Finnish manufacturer has tweeted about an October 22 event through its official Twitter account. The announcement includes an image of a couple of dudes in skiing gear.

Here’s the twist – they’re in a desert setting, skiing on sand dunes. Worked into the image’s lower half are the words ‘Save the date: 22 October 2013.’ Pasted in the middle of the poster are #blazing, #stories and #innovationreinvented.

Nokia Lumia 1520

Well, it was time the long rumored Bandit showed up and a 6-inch phablet is the only big thing Nokia is speculated to be working on right now. So the official teaser was bound to lead to stories of the company planning to unveil it next month. Tenuous gossip is not the only evidence we have of the device in question.

Towards the end of August, Windows Phone Central outed photos of the Bandit seated beside the Lumia 1020. The latter was practically dwarfed by the Lumia 1520’s large red polycarbonate body. The phablet also had proto.nokia.com printed just below the screen. A November launch date appears to be on the cards. Price details will have to wait.

List of rumored specs:

– 6-inch full HD touchscreen throwing up the Windows Phone interface
– 20MP camera
– At least one bright shade of red is confirmed along with a polycarbonate shell
– AT&T will be one of the carriers welcoming it
– Release date expected to fall in November
