We might see the Micromax A89 Ninja launched in India soon, as the device has found a place on the company’s web site. While the handset is not that top-notch in terms of its specs, it doesn’t do too badly for itself either with dual SIM support.
Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich is the preferred choice of OS for the A89 Ninja, and this should give users a taste of a platform that until recently only featured in more premium smartphones. There is also a 3.97-inch (or 10.1cm) capacitive display capable of putting out images and video in a 480 x 800 pixel resolution.
There will be just one camera on the back coming at a 3MP resolution and although 3G connectivity is possible, users won’t be able to utilize the phone for video calling and the like. The phone will also be able to latch on to Wi-Fi networks, while file sharing can be achieved through Bluetooth. In addition, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack and a microUSB port.
In terms of hardware specs, the smartphone gets 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage, but only 2GB of this will be accessible to users. Memory expandability can be accomplished with a microSD card which can go up to 32GB. A 1GHz dual core Mediatek processor has also been included to make sure the device runs smoothly.
The company has been really busy launching a good number of phones in the run up to 2013. It now has the Canvas HD A116 which is undoubtedly its biggest offering, what with Jelly Bean, a 5-inch IPS display and an 8MP main imager. Its main competitors in the country include the likes of the Huawei Ascend G330.
The Micromax A89 Ninja should be seen in India soon, but we don’t have official confirmation on pricing or release date information. A 1450mAh battery should power up the device for a good 170 hours between charges, while about 4 hours of talk time can be squeezed out of it.
