Smartphones powered by Intel are slowly yet steadily entering the scene, with the all new Lenovo LePhone K800 already shipping in China. Just recently, the Intel-based Orange Santa Clara made a show for prospective users in the UK.

Touted as the company’s first Intel-powered smartphone, it functions on the Intel Atom processor, clocking in at a frequency of 1.6GHz. Owing to the integrated Hyper Threading technology, it allows for convenient multitasking with many applications running in the background. The XMM 6260 platform brings in the HSPA+ 21Mbs network into the picture. The device is said to survive on low power, courtesy of the Intel 32nm Atom chip.

A 4.5-inch IPS display dominates the front panel, while a 400MHz GPU should proffer improved graphics. An 8MP camera is affixed on the flip side for photography purposes, while there’s a 1.3MP snapper sitting on the front panel for video conferencing. The primary imager offers 1080p video recording capability as well. Integrated with 1GB RAM and 16GB ROM, the entire show is based on the Android 2.3.7 OS.

The Lenovo LePhone K800 price tag reads RMB 3,299 for China. It can be picked up via the official site, select Suning & Gome stores, 360Buy.com and the company’s retail outlets.
