Even though many phones are equipped with a QWERTY keypad, typing out lengthy mails can be tiresome. With Swype gearing up for Nokia devices, users should probably be sorted out on that one now. The Nokia Beta Labs has divulged information about Swype Beta coming for Symbian S60 5th edition phones.

Swype technology helps handset owners type roughly 40 words in a minute wherein they can simply swipe their fingers or the stylus across the screen rather than tapping each letter. This application will be compatible with Nokia S60 5th edition touchscreen handsets including Nokia 5800, 5230, X6, N97, N97mini and C6-00. Swype is incorporated directly into the Symbian input method for seamless integration.

This Symbian beta renders support for Canadian French, English US, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese. Unless and until the writing language is not set to one of the above Swype will not function. Other language support is expected in the uture as part of the company’s ongoing development. The company claims that this beta is complete in terms of features and is almost reaching its final stages of development.

Swype is loaded with a plethora of features to making typing effortless. With double tap editing, auto-spacing, auto-capitalization, auto spelling correction and automatic help functions, editing and input of text becomes easier. Coupled with a 65,000 dictionary, users can easily enter words. It also offers instant access to symbols, numbers and editing functions.

Handset owners can install Swype through a SD card or Nokia PC Suite. After the installation users will be pressed to reboot their phone. Unless and until the input method is correctly reloaded through reboot, Swype will not operate. Those who intend to upgrade from Alpha Labs or Backstage, will need to uninstall the previous version and then subsequently reboot prior to installing beat. The company further adds that they do not intend to make any changes, but would welcome feedback and bug reports.
